At the Spanish Lab and Learning Center, we use innovative and research-based methods to teach Spanish. We strive to provide a comprehensive experience in learning Spanish language and culture.
We offer classes for students K-12. Students are clustered by proficiency level. The courses range from beginners, intermediate and advanced language proficiency. All Spanish classes are taught by native Spanish speakers who have a wide range of experience in teaching languages. The methods and techniques used, are designed to make the learning effective and efficient.
Classes meet twice a week (Monday/ Wednesday or Tuesday/ Thursday) from 4:00 – 5:30

Missed Lessons: If the student misses a lesson, we will not reschedule the lesson or refund for the missed lesson.
*If you sign up your child for both semesters, you only pay for one enrollment fee of $80.
The Nest Classroom is designed for toddlers ages 3 and 4. Children can participate for up to 6 hours a week of learning Spanish in an Immersion setting through play based learning.
We offer a curriculum plan that naturally and progressively helps your child develop bilingual skills.
Mondays – Friday 9:00 – 12:00 or 12:30 – 3:30
Private tutoring classes are personally tailored lessons for students who need extra support in Reading or Math in English or Spanish. The private tutors are certified K-5 teachers who will meet with students on a one-on-one basis to ensure individualized attention.
If you are a homeschool parent who has considered adding a foreign language to your child, this program is for you. Students have the opportunity to learn to communicate in Spanish with consistent practice with native-speaking instructors who are also certified to teach Spanish in Virginia. Flexible schedule to fit a time that is convenient for your child.
We offer these classes for adult learners who are interested in learning the language through a communicative approach. Participants are clustered by proficiency level.
A1: BEGINNER
Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has. Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
A2: ELEMENTARY
Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
B1: INTERMEDIATE
Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
B2: UPPER INTERMEDIATE
Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
C1: ADVANCED
Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning. Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
C2: PROFICIENT
Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read. Can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation. Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations.
Important: At the end of each course, we offer level assessments from the AMERICAN COUNCIL ON THE TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES (ACTFL) for a certificate of proficiency.
